Kirsty Academic Tutor

Kirsty started her career in education by undertaking an Educational Studies degree during which she gained a great foundation of how people learn. She then became a qualified primary school teacher and has 15 years experience in both state and independent schools across KS2. She is trained to teach all subjects up to Year 6 and loves to bring creativity and fun to her lessons.

Kirsty believes that the key to successful learners is confidence. She develops this by helping them to become independent learners, preparing them to access the world around them and encouraging them to have high expectations of their abilities, allowing them to believe in themselves and to soar. Kirsty will use positive reinforcement, games and challenges to help children to grow in confidence and really believe they can do it.

Kirsty has tutored for many years and enjoys working with all ages and subjects. She also has experience in SATs boosters. Kirsty particularly enjoys how personalised tutoring is because any learning should be tailored to the child’s needs.

When Kirsty is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family. They love to travel, experience new cultures and also spend days exploring the world around them. Kirsty also loves all parts of the performing arts from drama and singing to music and dance and goes to the theatre regularly. There is always some form of music and dance going on in their living room!

KIRSTY’S THOUGHTS ON TUTORING

I love being a teacher and helping children to unlock their full potential. I am particularly enthusiastic about tutoring as it gives me the ability to work one to one with children to help them overcome any barriers to learning in a fun and creative way. I am also able to tailor the sessions to their interests and specific needs which allows for so much progress.
