Sarah, Academic Tutor

Sarah has worked as a teacher in schools across Kent, Sussex and Surrey for 15+ years. She has a background in English and studied English Literature at the University of Leeds before completing her teaching qualification.

Sarah has taught all ages across Key Stage 2 but has mostly taught and led Upper Key Stage 2. She is familiar with the standards required by the end of the key stage and loves to support children by developing their skills and confidence as they move through to the next phase.

Sarah moved from middle leadership in schools to full time tutoring in 2019 and is enjoying teaching 1:1 English and maths sessions. She uses different games and strategies which are tailored to suit the needs of the learner and make the sessions enjoyable.

SARAH’S THOUGHTS ON TUTORING

I love seeing the quick progress made by students through tutoring and the flexibility it offers in helping the children as new needs arise. It’s a great way of making the topics more personalized for the students too.

OUR THOUGHTS ON SARAH

Sarah definitely has her finger on the pulse when it comes to inspiring children!  An experienced teacher, Sarah is embracing the one-to-one tutoring and the joy of getting to know each individual and learning what makes them tick.  We truly believe that Sarah’s positive, bubbly approach makes all the difference to the children in her care.

OUR CLIENTS’ THOUGHTS ON SARAH

“My daughter has really enjoyed her sessions with Sarah, a maths tutor from Discover and Be. She was really worrying about maths and very unconfident and was so nervous about doing tutoring. Sheila was so fun and relaxed during the assessment and put my daughter totally at ease, she really enjoyed it. Since then she has really gained confidence from her weekly sessions. Sarah has been kind and fun and able to adapt sessions each week to suit my daughters needs and she looks forward to seeing her.” - Victoria Tischendorf

“Sarah was recruited to support our 7 year old little boy with his maths as he was struggling at school. Thanks to Sarah, he is no longer afraid of numbers and is confident with his homework. She has a great approach, is patient and creative with ways to create fun with numbers.” - mum of a year 2 child

We highly recommend Discover and Be.

As with all our tutors, Sarah is fully DBS certified.
