Oscar, Drum Tutor
Oscar is a drummer based in Sussex with twenty years of experience in numerous drum styles, live performances and sessions. He has had the privilege to study with many fantastic musicians including Ralph Rolle (Chic), Craig Blundell (Steven Wilson), Steve White (Paul Weller) and Virgil Donati. Oscar has also studied under UK drummer Pat Garvey, since 2012. He has played festivals across the UK and Europe, as well as performing for BBC showcases.
Growing up in the south-east, Oscar has been involved in many different original and cover projects including pop, country, folk, rock, prog and metal. There are many bands/artists that have influenced hisstyle including Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Steven Wilson, Foo Fighters, London Grammar and many more.
Aside from working on original material, as a working musician he fills part of his time teaching privately and playing in cover bands/tribute acts which takes him all across the UK performing at weddings and parties.
Oscar’s repertoire also includes electric kits and programming samples. Electronics has given him the ability to be creative beyond the drum set and even record entire albums from his own home. Genres and shows that demand ever changing sounds (pop, drum&bass, progressive rock) can be played and replicated with ease. Oscar also use triggers within acoustic drums, layering both original drum sounds and electronic samples. Having his own equipment to record both acoustic and electric kits means he can remote-record high quality drum parts to be sent to an artist/band.
Being creative and teaching is where Oscar is most happy. He loves the process of learning, helping others and being able to push himself at the same time.
In his spare time Oscar likes to go bouldering/climbing, and enjoys motorsport, comics, video games and movies.
