Having always had a passion for Art and Design, Sheila attended Winchester School of Art to complete a foundation year. As a lover of learning, Sheila also completed a number of travel qualifications resulting in her working for the Travel Editor of the Telegraph for a period of time. She then graduated from Chichester University with a BA Hons in Primary Education specialising in Early Years education. Whilst still a student Sheila began to work with a number of children’s drama schools. This gave her the perfect opportunity to bring together her love of teaching and her creative flair.

‘I really do believe that children can be engaged to learn anything if the teaching environment and delivery is creative and stimulating. Art and Drama are two fantastic vehicles to help children develop, but there is a whole world of multi-sensory opportunities out there that can encourage a child’s confidence, build their self-esteem and help them develop both physically and emotionally. To me, providing those opportunities is what teaching is all about.’

Sheila has worked both in the state and private sectors of education and has taught all years from Reception through to Year 6, including SATs tuition and 11+/ CAT4 preparation. She has a particular passion for empowering children to believe in themselves and their abilities in Maths and Reading Comprehension.  Sheila offers fun interactive initial assessments for KS1/2/3 that help children identify their strengths and concerns about school. This is shared with parents and it enables Sheila to identify an appropriate tutor who can build on the findings in the assessment.

Sheila, a local Sussex girl (having lived in Haywards Heath since childhood), loves to explore the world and visit her family in Dubai and Kenya.  As family is important to her, Sheila enjoys spending time at home with her nieces, nephew and goddaughters.

If you'd like to contact Sheila directly to talk about private tuition for your child, she can be emailed at sheila@discoverandbe.com or by phone on 07980 565 632.

Sheila has always been extremely supportive. Her assessments were thorough and she identified the areas my children needed development and greater challenge in. She matched them with an excellent tutor who was suited to them. If any further assistance was needed, she readily provided it.
