Julie Forrest, Academic Tutor
Julie is a highly experienced and well-qualified primary school teacher with a passion for creative learning and a caring and supportive manner. Julie enjoys passing her enthusiasm for learning onto children in an exciting and stimulating way. Julie aims to instil awe and wonder into learning, whilst boosting confidence and self-belief in those she teaches.
Julie’s teaching career began in Derbyshire, where she specialised in working with children with specific learning needs. Here, she gained invaluable experience that would later inspire her to become a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) in mainstream schools.
Julie took a break from teaching to have children, during which time the family moved down to West Sussex. Over the last 10 years, Julie has had the opportunity to develop her role as a SENCO as well as taking on the role of Acting Deputy Head and lead Safeguarding Officer. She has gained a wealth of experience teaching across all primary year groups and takes great pride in all that she has achieved.
“I strongly believe that children can achieve a deeper understanding if they participate in an active and creative learning environment - for me this includes a wide use of technology and the outdoors wherever possible.”
We are excited to welcome Julie to the Discover and Be tutoring team and we have already received some wonderful feedback from her pupils and their parents!
